Owner & US Navy Veteran

Dan MacIndoe

Dan has been building, fixing, and troubleshooting for 50 years. As a teenager he worked in an automotive machine shop rebuilding engines. He has built two homes from the ground up. About 30 years ago began owning, and therefore repairing, a variety of recreational vehicles including tent trailers, bumper pulls, pickup campers, class C, and even a unique, high end minimalist trailer called a Sylvan Sport.

One thing is common to almost all RV's is they are prone to trouble for a variety of reasons and need regular maintenance. We currently own and live full time in a Grand Design travel trailer home based in the Prescott area of Arizona but frequently are mobile camping from Arizona to the Pacific Northwest and the Rocky Mountains. For many years Dan troubleshooted and made repairs based on general knowledge and with the help of Youtube videos like many of us do. Our Grand Design trailer has had a variety of issues.

In 2019 he discovered the National RV Training Academy and researched this school thoroughly, attended classes earning the official certification as an RV Technician. Dan is a member of the RV Technician Association of America, as a Certified Technician. Certified technicians have been trained to troubleshoot systems including furnaces, water heaters, air conditioners, refrigerators, landing / leveling gear, slides and more. This certification contrasts greatly with companies who are known as “parts swappers,” which means someone who replaces parts until a problem is solved and frequently can become unnecessarily costly.

Dan is also a US Navy Veteran having served over six years as a Naval Supply Corps Officer.

Testimonials

Figured It Out

“I had an electrical issue which I tried solving myself as I consider myself a handy person, but this problem stumped me. Dan found a loose wire in my RV breaker box. The connections looked normal but Dan explained how the vibration and shaking of a trailer frequently can cause connections to become loose and become a potential fire hazard. He found the problem within 20 minutes, corrected the problem and educated me that checking these connections is part of annual maintenance.”

Mystery Solved

“We live full time in our travel trailer and have had issues with a foul odor from our black tank. The dealer told us we needed a new tank and the waiting time would be 6 weeks to get in and then they wanted our trailer for a week to repair. We found Dan's mobile service and decided to have him take a look. He found that the the connection between the toilet and the tank were misaligned. He had the problem solved in less than two hours at a fraction of the cost the dealer was going to charge over $1000! And thankfully we avoided an expensive hotel stay while the dealer would have had our trailer in the shop.”

We Have Ice!

“ We called Dan out to check to perform annual maintenace on our RV. We told him our refrigerator freezer section would barely make ice, and ice cream would not stay completely frozen. He found that the factory had not installed the refrigerator correctly. There was no insualtion on top of the exterior and a required air flow baffle was never installed. Both isssues were due to faulty factory installation. We lived with this issue for three years and we bought the trailer new! Problem solved and we now have frozen ice cubes and ice cream to boot!”
